AJOBO: Win a Copy of Bob Marley’s ‘Easy Skanking Boston ’78’ on Blu-Ray!
Well, hello there! Apologies for AJOBO’s prolonged absence; my original vacation was interrupted by a not-so-vacation vacation that’s kept me a little busy. But everything’s on the up and up now, and I’m super excited to tell you about a brand new giveaway from one of my favorite artists of all time, Bob Marley.
As part of a year-long celebration for Marley’s 70th birthday, UMG is releasing and re-releasing a lot of seen and unseen material that Marley created during his life. The first release on the schedule is Easy Skanking in Boston ’78, a new package, of completely unreleased material available for the first time in any format. Though the film will come in a Blu-Ray/CD combo pack, as well as DVD/CD and CD versions, we’re giving away the very cool Blu-Ray edition to one lucky reader!
The video was shot with a hand-held camera by a fan that Marley allowed to sit right in front of the stage. The result is remarkable footage that captures Marley from just a few feet away, allowing one to experience the intimacy of his set. While the cinematographer was shooting with film and needed to change rolls during the performance, the gaps in the live footage have been augmented with specially created animation over the existing audio. This marks the first time the Marley family has approved newly created material, in this case animation, for a Marley release.
Check out the newly released trailer for Easy Skanking for a preview of the incredible footage and animation!

This Week on REBEAT!
– We brought you a list of ’60s covers that hit #1 in the 1970s, and this week, we’ll take a look at those ’60s tunes that hit their stride in the 1980s. You know you secretly blast David Lee Roth’s “California Girls.”
-Saturday is Valentine’s Day, and we’ll be celebrating with a history of love on television, a special Staff Picks and of course, a JUKEBOX of all those great breakup songs for those of us currently single. Hmm, maybe a REBEAT dating service will be next?
-We’ll take a look back at Richard Branson, miracle worker, and how Virgin Records took Krautrockers Faust and crafted them into bonafide UK pop stars. There’s ostensibly nothing that Branson can’t do, except offer a snack on his transcontinental flights (throwing shade your way, Virgin America).
