AJOBO: Holidaze, Celebrate

I hate that I just typed the “h-word.” My body is rejecting it. I can feel my toes curling. Ughhhhhhh. Every time I pass a Rite-Aid with waving snowmen and plastic Christmas trees, I just want to strap on a Grinch mask, steal all the brightly-colored holiday decor and shove it in my magical bag — made of plastic. Because it’s a garbage bag.

Okay, I don’t want to sound like I hate the holidays. Quite the opposite actually! I love Thanksgiving, Christmas and the special couple of weeks between them that are filled with family, friends, cards, parties, holiday tunes and wassail. Hell, I even love the snow for that between-y month-long span of time. But not yet. Not before Thanksgiving. Halloween was only a week ago. Have we forgotten?

*steps off soapbox*

But, really, I’m super excited for all of the great stuff we have in store for you REBEATers. Lots of holiday-themed countdowns, JUKEBOXES, Staff Picks, features — and giveaways! Yes, that’s right! So, best be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter so you don’t miss out on any goodies.

Enough of my ranting. Let’s take a look at…

This Week on REBEAT!

– Jen Cunningham had a chance to chat with Jethro Tull frontman Ian Anderson about his new album and CD/DVD combo Homo Erraticus. Later this week, we’ll get his thoughts on his career, tour, and more.

– The first of our Retro Reviews, I’m going to glance back at one of my favorite albums of 2001: Paul McCartney’s Driving Rain, released 13 years ago this week. Often scorned or dismissed, I’ll attempt to convince you why it’s worth another listen.

– In honor of Veterans Day tomorrow (in America) and Remembrance Day in Britain/Canada over the weekend, we’ll honor the military with a special Tuesday JUKEBOX, compiling some of our favorite songs about the service.
