Here’s what you may have missed last week!
Breaking news
Jimi Hendrix’s London flat, in which he spent a year of his life in the late ’60s, will be open to the public as an exhibit beginning in February 2016. The exhibition, entitled “Handel & Hendrix in London,” will pay tribute to the lives of both Hendrix and Georg Frideric Handel, the famous composer who also lived in the building. Visit the website of “Handel & Hendrix in London” to find more details about the exhibits and how you can plan a trip.
Albums, singles, and tours
- Phil Collins has stated that he intends to record a new album, which would be his first since 2002’s Testify. Collins also has high hopes for a solo tour; a Genesis reunion, however, is undecided according to Collins.
- David Bowie has confirmed in a Facebook post that he is releasing a new album on January 8. It is uncertain whether Bowie will tour in support of the album.
- Jim McCarty of the Yardbirds gave an extensive exclusive interview with Ultimate Classic Rock about the Yardbirds’ North American tour. Click here for a full list of tour dates.
- Black Sabbath have added additional dates to their ‘The End’ tour; they will now be on the road until fall of 2016. They will not, however, be recording a final album. In an interview with NOLA.com, Ozzy Osbourne stated, “I don’t want it to dwindle and dwindle and play just for the sake of making another f—in’ sack full of cash.”
- Record Store Day will occur on Black Friday, with many limited special releases from artists such as Brian Wilson, Janis Joplin, Paul McCartney, Queen, and others. Follow this link to find participating stores.
